An originally high quality picture frame that was in poor condition. Pieces were coming away even whilst it was being delivered to the studio. It required repair and consolidation of the existing pieces.
Cleaning away the dirt, flaking surface and loose pieces. Missing areas had to be reproduced, some having to be remodelled completely.
New sections were cut in damaged areas filled in.
Finally the finished frame was retouched to provide a unified appearance that also allowed close examination to identify repaired areas (the customers choice)
The finished frame.
This plaster scroll sat on one side of a stunning fireplace overmantle. Bashed and damp ridden, it had been overpainted so heavily it was unclear even on it's shape, yet the right hand scroll was undamaged.
Removing it from the wall was unavoidable but after cleaning and cutting back previous repair the original form was found and the missing and badly damaged sections were rebuilt.
Replaced and restored to its original position it was undistinguishable from its mirror opposite.
This was one of a pair of small plaster gargoyles originally from the Tronheim Cathedral Collection. Mounted outside a family summer house for many years, the gargoyles were in a poor state of repair. They needed cleaning and the pitted surface had to be restored to their original detail.
Once the shape had been restored they were repainted with an additional oil element to give them better protection as they were placed back in their original position.
